My first blog post for this website! I'll be going through why I created this website as well as the things I plan to post about in the near future.

This website and blog has been an idea many months in the making, and what a time to finally get off my arse and develop it!

In just the last few weeks the effect of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) has propagated through the broader economy, causing the world share markets to crash and increase in volatility. Here in Australia, people are panic buying goods such as toilet paper, tissues, pasta, rice, fresh meat and eggs. It’s a crazy experience, walking through supermarkets with complete aisle bare of produce and other goods, as well as an endless line of people waiting for the grocery stores to open at 8am (thankfully I was not one of them).

Enough about that, talking about the current global pandemic isn’t the purpose of this blog. The real reason I created this blog is because personal finance is a passion of mine, and I enjoy sharing my tips and experiences on budgeting, saving and investing. I am considered the ‘go-to’ guy for anything personal finance, and have regularly provided resources to friends and colleagues.

I hope to use this page as an avenue to share my knowledge and demonstrate to the wider community that investing some time into understanding your personal finances will have a huge benefits towards achieving your future savings and investment goals. In parallel, I want to improve on my content creation and presentation skills – I am just an average Joe and by know means an accomplished literary genius!

There is A LOT of content out there already, and I don’t aim to reinvent the wheel. Rather, I hope to have all my recommended resources in one spot (check out my Recommended Reading Material – This will be continuously added to as I see fit).

I currently finalising a bit of plan for the delivery of content in the short term. The personal finance topics I plan on blogging about include:
  • Budgeting and savings
  • Banking, credit and debt
  • Investing
  • My own Financial Independence journey
  • And other general concepts to support your financial literacy

My current thinking is to write a weekly blog post, though this could be more frequent if I am stuck indoors if the COVID-19 situation worsens!

All the best, and I hope you stick around and enjoy my future content!
