It’s a bit crazy to think that we’ve been working from home for over a quarter of a year now, and the end doesn’t appear to be in sight! I was looking forward to more freedom, however it was unfortunate that it was short-lived.
Anyhow, let’s firstly summarise my expenditure in June 2020:
Table 1: June 2020 Expenditure

As seen above, no real surprises here. 6% under budget, with some overs and unders:
- Higher than expected Household Utilities costs due to the bi-monthly gas bill
- Shopping was higher due to one-off purchases for winter snow gear ($312) and purchasing a new keyboard ($132)
- Holiday & Travel had an expense to pay for the snow trip accomodation ($174.45)
The savings rate for June was quite a bit lower than the previous three months, predominately due to some quarterly repayments occuring in June as well as purchasing some snow gear.
I am expecting July to be similar, as there will be one-off costs related to a snow trip (with statewide Level 3 restrictions, who knows if the trip is still viable) which include food, gear gear, and lift passes. Additional one-off costs will include the purchase of a bicycle trainer (because cycling in the rain is no fun) and associated equipment.
Table 2: Summary of Monthly Savings Rate

So even with a strong savings performance over March, April and May, I wasn’t quite able to bring things home in June. Nevertheless, a savings rate of just under 18% was higher than my goal so I am definitely pleased with that.
Table 3: Summary of Savings Rate for FY20

So that’s a wrap for the financial year – I am looking forward to seeing what FY21 brings!
